alphabet art

One of the Dutch book designs at the Stedelijk Museum exhibition was this book about artist Ben Joosten. I really love the way he uses letters and numbers in his designs. He's is already 80 years old, but designed the cover himself, nice! And his work reminds me of Hendrik Werkman, my all time favourite typographer and printer. So of course I had to buy it.

This week is a bit weird: only three (busy!) days at work, a trip to the south and the birthday of my dad. I'm going to celebrate it anyway, with a homemade birthday pie. It would be nice to remember him like this every year. Ah, we'll see.

faces at my place

Ha, this was on my couch! Looks like a friendly creature.
It actually is a very, very old tripod for your camera.
Or better, a monopod, it only has one leg.
Uhm, nevermind...

The ever so sad Jimmy Corrigan.

 And I found her too!

This takes some courage,
because I never ever post a picture of myself.
But I was thinking, I always like to see how blog people look,
so I guess it's also time for me.
Still a bit safe in grey, but: Hello! :)
Oh and I have new hair, that helps.

Best dutch book designs / Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

An exhibition about the best Dutch book designs of last year.
You can browse through all the books yourself
which was the best part of this exhibition.

My favourites were the photography book of Uta Eisenreich,
a book designed by Irma Boom and a book I bought
myself a while ago. I'll show it later!

My week in pictures

 This week
more container ships passed by our window,

I bought a present for my mom,

and I struggled with a photography assignment.
My colleague, a photographer,
gave me something to do because
I said I missed my homework...

And hurray for extra long weekends!

beautiful birds

Yippeee, my Charley Harper book arrived!
Famous for his bird prints,
but he made also lots of other drawings.

my week in three pictures

Where did time go?
I almost forgot about my blog,
but here are some nice things from last week.

 My tiny garden!

Now that I don't have to go to my graphic design class
I'm visiting a lot of exhibitions.
Friday I went to a gallery to see drawings by Henri Jacobs.
He makes a drawing EVERY day. It looks so cool together.

A belated birthday gift (from etsy).
It should help me when I'm stuck :)

Also:
> a Beatles compilation my boyfriend made for me
> homemade granola bars (granola is my number 1 addiction!)

Have a nice week!
